I offer psychotherapy for Florida clients.

February 16, 2026: I am not currently accepting new clients. However I am happy to provide a free consult and add you to my waitlist or provide recommendations for other therapists.

It's so natural to experience overwhelm when there is a mismatch between our strengths and the world around us. And equally natural to want a little outside partnership in navigating that overwhelm.

I offer trauma-informed psychotherapy that works. I think about health and happiness mostly through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS): a non-pathologizing, evidence-based approach to what is sometimes called “parts work”. I help clients bring compassion and curiosity inward, improving the relationships among their strengths, protective reflexes, and parts that carry pain and other burdens.

If you're here and reading this, it's likely that something difficult in your life activated a part of you that knows to reach out for support. What a great start. During a free initial 20-minute call I will be happy to meet you, answer any questions, and discuss whether I might be a good fit for your current needs:

If you would like to use your insurance:

I see insurance-billed clients through two group practices. As of February 16, 2026 those practices are empaneled with Aetna, Aetna CVS, Anthem EAP Bank of America, BCBS, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna/Evernorth, Florida Blue, Medicare, Publix and Lowes EAP, Seminole Tribe of Florida, UHC Medicare Advantage, and United Behavioral Health (including United Healthcare, Optum, UMR, Oscar, Oxford, and AvMed).

If you would like self-pay appointments:

I work with an additional clinical supervisor to see self-pay and sliding-scale clients who are referred to me from outside of the group practices I work with. My self-pay fee is $150/session for 50-minute sessions, and I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company, which may or may not result in reimbursement.

Florida counseling disclosures and HIPAA

I will provide you with notices of practice policies and client rights during the informed consent process of our first full session. You may also request them from me in advance. I share some highlights below in alignment with Florida law and our field’s professional ethics:

Education and credentials:

I completed two separate mental health Master's degrees and was trained by the IFS Institute for additional clinical specialization:

  • Master of Science in Clinical and Health Psychology (Neuropsychology focus), University of Florida, August 2011

  • Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Barry University, August 2025

  • Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Level 1, IFS Institute, January-June 2021

I am credentialed by the Florida Department of Health as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (#IMH28298, expiring August 2030). This is Florida law’s post-masters-degree, post-practicum, early-career mental health counseling credential, and Florida law requires that clients are notified of formal clinical supervision arrangements (see below).

Practice settings and clinical supervision:

I see counseling clients through Modern Therapy Group, Broward Therapists, and Stephen Towler LLC, with separate clinical supervision arrangements for each setting:

  • For clients seen through Modern Therapy Group, I am clinically supervised by Jack Hazan, Florida Qualified Supervisor, Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor #MH21095.

  • For clients seen through Broward Therapists, I am clinically supervised by Justin Johansen, Florida Qualified Supervisor, Florida Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, #MT3379.

  • For clients seen outside of those group practices, through Stephen Towler LLC, I am clinically supervised by Jennifer Munyer, Florida Qualified Supervisor, Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor #MH25167.

“Clinical supervision” does not mean your sessions are observed or recorded. It does mean you have access to additional expertise through my on-going consultation with my clinical supervisors (weekly or greater). From a privacy and confidentiality standpoint this means I may discuss anonymized aspects of your care with my clinical supervisor(s). If active crisis management is needed to avoid immediate harm to you or others I may include my clinical supervisor directly in your care.

Limits of HIPAA compliance:

To protect your privacy and confidentiality, all electronic systems I use to facilitate your counseling services are HIPAA-compliant. This includes scheduling software, video conferencing technologies, document storage, and email and phone accounts from which I correspond with clients. Please keep in mind that does not guarantee the privacy, confidentiality, or security of the client’s side of the communications. For example: if you ask me to email you a therapy resource we discussed in session I am able to affirm the HIPAA compliance of the email account I use to send to you, but I have no control over the privacy, confidentiality, or security of the message once it leaves my email servers en rote to your account.
